The 1042E is a 20-kW CNC tube bending machine from the UP&DOWN series for tubes with a diameter and a thickness of up to 42 mm and 2 mm, respectively. The machine’s strength is the head’s orthogonal movement. Only one cycle is required to make a tube that would normally need post-processing operations, therefore, precision and increased productivity are guaranteed. The head can move to any lateral position of the tube (above, below, right, and left) resolving dimensional problems arising from the machine itself and the processed tube, while quickly changing the working plane. It is also capable of making right and left bends and it can be integrated with the loading and unloading cycles. The clamp die and pressure die are synchronous, so when the upper plane moves forward, the lower one moves back, and vice versa. The 1042E, like the other models in the UP&DOWN series, is a multistack tube bending machine with at least 6 working planes. Because of its high vertical travel, multiple tools with different radii and clamping can be installed on the machine. The linear motion system uses lubrication-free linear guides and recirculating ball carriages that are more durable than traditional guides. The high-load ball screws drive the clamp and pressure dies efficiently. Furthermore, the machine’s efficiency is warranted by the dynamic plane positioner that limits component damage in case of accidental collisions by positioning the motor for the pressure dies, thus avoiding collisions. The machine’s 10 axes are driven by actuated by “Fully Electric” digital motors and controlled by Siemens SINUMERIK 840D sl. These technologies ensure high quality, save energy, and reduce set-up/startup-time and scrap. Additional energy saving and efficiency improvement are attributed to the pneumatic balancing, which allows the use of a smaller yet more powerful motor. The high production rate, the availability for a vast range of accessories for specific jobs, the ability to bends tubes with a CLR/DIA ratio lower than 0.8 or thrust bends with a variable radius, the integrability into work cells make this machine particularly suitable for sectors where efficiency and productivity are the primary requirements. This model has three-dimensional graphical software on a 19” LCD Touch screen for the operator to interact intuitively with the machine. The UII (“User ISO Interface”) facilitates the programming, the simulation, and the optimisation of the bending process. The 1042E is designed to integrate into the Smart Factory system.
